Offended by previous feedback response on abortion

18 March 2002

From Candy D., England.

Her letter is printed first in its entirety. Her letter is printed again, with point-by-point responses (in dark red) by Dr Jonathan Sarfati, interspersed as per normal e-mail fashion. Ellipses (…) at the end of one of the paragraphs signal that a mid-sentence comment follows, not an omission.

I am writng to tell you that I am disgusted and offended with your article on baby killers and even more so at your reply to b.p.’s complaint. Your argument is byist, un-compramisable and a guilt trip to all considering the option. You do not give options to pepole who are having problems or whos life is in danger through having a child. I am a roman catholic who unfortunatly does not have a life style suitable for worship in a church. I keep myself to myself and worship at home. Here you are forcing your opinions on people and and quite frankly disgracing the christian name. Iv always belived that God has taught us to love one another. Iv also always belived that love is unconditional and a big part of it is to to with support and understanding. Although I don’t agree with what you have wrote, im not critising your opinion. It is your choice what you think BUT I do NOT agree with the disrespect that you are giving fellow christians and I do NOT agree with the way you have given a one sided view. That page is not there to help, it is there to manipulate, hurt and oppres people to your way of thinking.

I hope this letter finds some women piece of mind and you respond in a more appropriate way then you did to B.P. If there is any women who read this and are considering abortion then I say to you think carefully. This is your life abd your choice.Don't be swayed by others, you could end up regretting your decision for life.

I am writng to tell you that I am disgusted and offended with your article on baby killers and even more so at your reply to b.p.’s complaint.

I presume you refer to Offended by the term ‘Baby Killers’. There are only two logical reasons why you could be disgusted and offended:

  1. You disagree that the unborn really is a baby, so killing the unborn has no moral implications.
  2. You grant that it’s a baby but see nothing wrong with killing babies.

It would be nice if you informed us which one of these you accepted. At present, we have heard only about your emotional state — this doesn’t help us much since we cannot feel your emotions.

Your argument is byist, un-compramisable and a guilt trip to all considering the option.

I notice your failure to address the key point, i.e. the unborn baby is an innocent human life. So anyone considering killing him or her should feel guilty. As we said, abortion is a forgivable sin, but to seek forgiveness requires that the person(s) involved realize that there is something that needs forgiveness, and guilt is the first step towards this. After the sin has been forgiven, then there is no more need for guilt. [See also the later feedback response from a lady who had an abortion but no knows forgiveness and is not offended by the factual statement that abortion kills babies.]

You do not give options to pepole who are having problems or whos life is in danger through having a child.

We did actually, since we pointed out that even some well-known creationists have helped with Pregnancy Crisis Centers. There are equivalents in your country, such as LIFE Care and Housing Trust. One of its aims is stated: ‘To provide a nationwide care service for pregnant women, unsupported mothers, women with problems relating to pregnancy, fertility or infertility, or suffering from the effects of abortion.’

I am a roman catholic who unfortunatly does not have a life style suitable for worship in a church. I keep myself to myself and worship at home. Here you are forcing your opinions on people …

How so? No one is forced to read what we say. But as we pointed out, abortion forces an opinion on the unborn baby.

… and and quite frankly disgracing the christian name.

How is this defined? Jesus had compassion for the lowest members of society, so how is it disgracing the Christian name to have compassion for the unborn?

Iv always belived that God has taught us to love one another.

Indeed He did, and this must include the unborn members of society.

Iv also always belived that love is unconditional and a big part of it is to to with support and understanding.

Indeed, the love we should feel towards our unborn brothers and sisters should be unconditional and not based on their ‘wantedness’.

Although I don’t agree with what you have wrote, im not critising your opinion.

I have to admit that it sure seems that you were.

It is your choice what you think BUT I do NOT agree with the disrespect that you are giving fellow christians and I do NOT agree with the way you have given a one sided view.

Actually, that page addressed most of the pro-abortion arguments, and showed how they all fall flat when confronted with the reality that the unborn is a child, not a ‘choice’.

That page is not there to help, it is there to manipulate, hurt and oppres people to your way of thinking.

Au contraire, the abortion industry makes millions by manipulating vulnerable women into oppressing their own children by having them killed before they are even born.

I hope this letter finds some women piece of mind and you respond in a more appropriate way then you did to B.P. If there is any women who read this and are considering abortion then I say to you think carefully. This is your life abd your choice.

Wrong on both counts, sorry. It is not just your life; there are two lives involved. Therefore it is not your choice either, provided that you want to do the right thing.

Don’t be swayed by others, you could end up regretting your decision for life.

We agree totally — don’t be swayed by others who counsel murder of the innocent unborn, because you could end up regretting this act for life, with emotional, physical and spiritual consequences. Committing murder is no just solution to anything and it creates ongoing untold heartache and misery. And on top of that, those involved will answer to God for their evil deeds. The good news is that Christ died so that our sins can be forgiven, so even abortionists, along with the rest of us sinners, can find release from the guilt emanating from sin.
