Dr George Hawke, B.Sc. (Hons), Ph.D.

Creationist Environmental Scientist

Raised on a farm near Forbes in central NSW, George has been interested in the creation/evolution debate since he was at high school. He obtained a B.Sc. with first class honours in Physics, from the University of Sydney followed by a Ph.D. in air pollution meteorology from Macquarie University. Over the past 22 years George has worked in university research, a State Government regulatory authority and the electrical power industry as an environmental scientist and an environmental consultant. He is presently a certified environmental auditor with Pacific Power and specialises in environmental legislation and environmental management systems.

Dr Hawke has been involved with two groups that investigated relationships between Christianity and the environment, one associated with the Scripture Union Bushwalking Club and the other with the precursor of the NSW Environment Protection Authority. The Hawke family is involved in all aspects of their church. George is interested in bushwalking, cricket and photography and Jean is into craft and desk-top publishing. Their two teenage children enjoy music and socialising.
