Day of Prayer

6 May 2004

In the United States, the first Thursday of May is designated as the National Day of Prayer. Accordingly, President George Bush issued a recent proclamation, noting: ‘Prayer is an opportunity to praise God for His mighty works, His gift of freedom, His mercy, and His boundless love. Through prayer, we recognize the limits of earthly power and acknowledge the sovereignty of God. … Prayer leads to humility and a grateful heart, and it turns our minds to the needs of others.’

Although Christians are instructed to pray unceasingly (1 Thes. 5:17), we trust that on this day, AiG supporters will pray even more intently, and specifically lift up those in governmental leadership positions, and also for the nation’s education leaders (and the young people they impact).  Almost all of America’s public schools are promoting an evolutionary, humanistic worldview.  And then, please pray for those Christian teachers who are working in public schools and are attempting to be missionaries in that difficult system.

Christians should also be praying for military personnel abroad (especially in Iraq and Afghanistan) and those stationed at home, and for their families.  We should also recognize that there is a culture war here at home, as the nation has increasingly turned its back on biblical truths and authority … beginning with the very first verse.

Refuting Evolution has sold over 500,000 copies! Impressive? But Richard Dawkins’ God Delusion has sold 8.5 million copies. Please support CMI so we can get more of this information out.
