There is nothing so impractical as an idea that cannot be tried. There is nothing
which can be as believable or appealing as a theory which relies on its ability
to avoid being tested. There is nothing so desirable to the hearts of most of mankind
as a belief which they think can shield them from the Living God.
An idea which has no practical test or application is an idea which can’t
be faulted. Such ideas achieve their appeal because they provide a basis for a faith
which cannot be destroyed by criticism.
Evolutionary theory has all the above characteristics. It cannot cope efficiently
with reality because it is a deformed view of reality. Its application to all fields
of scientific research has largely been a sad waste of time, energy and finance.
Any positive results claimed to have come from evolutionary research have done so
because man is made in the image of God, and therefore is both
creative and intelligent. There is, however a natural limit to what truth can be
discovered by using evolutionary philosophy to guide the direction of scientific
research. This limit is reached when Christ, the Creator and Sustainer observes
that man deliberately excludes God from his knowledge. He then gives them over to
do foolish and unprofitable things (Romans
1) ... things which will not be convenient nor scientifically useful. If
western science does not return to the point of acknowledging that the invisible
things of God are clearly seen and understood in the creation which God has made,
then God will destroy both the direction and success of science as well as the minds
which claim to guide it.
