Moon light rules the night

I have really enjoyed this website. Help me understand your calculation about the receding moon taking only 1.37 billion years to reach its current position of 239,000 miles from earth if it started from “being in contact with the earth.” I can’t seem to make the math work for that. I multiply 239,000 by 5,280 ft. and get an answer of 1,261,920,000 ft. Then I multiply that by 12 to convert to inches and get an answer of 15,143,040,000 inches from earth. Then I divide that by 1.5 inches per year and get 10,095,360,000 years. Where am I going wrong here?
Thanks for asking. Actually, the answer is in the article, in Note 8. Your calculation overlooks the fact that the tidal forces become much stronger as we work backwards to smaller distances, so the recession rate would also have been greater.

“The more we find out about our universe and see how incredible it is, the less people seem to believe in God.” This is what is known as progress, the more we learn the farther we move away from broze age superstitions and ancient myths. As science explains more and more of our natural world we have less and less use for all the unfounded, unproven nonsense found in all the religions of the world including but certainly not limited to christianity and the bible.
Someone else who hasn’t a clue about the biblical roots of modern science, since the Bible provides the assumptions for science to work in the first place. This is something that false religions, such as atheism, can't do.

Thanks to Dr Sarfati for another excellent article. My favourite fact about the moon is as mentioned by Jonathan that it is 400 times smaller than the sun and 400 times closer—perfect for a very precise eclipse. That on its own is almost enough to convince me we had a Creator! It never ceases to amaze me how perverse human nature is. The more we find out about our universe and see how incredible it is, the less people seem to believe in God.
