Phillip Bergen

Dr Phillip Bergen B.Sc., B. Pharm. (Hons), Ph.D.


Dr Bergen was a clinical pharmacist before entering academia in 2004. He completed his doctorate in antimicrobial pharmacodynamics whilst simultaneously working as a university academic, his thesis judged the best in his faculty for the year. During his doctorate two of his published papers were ranked in the top five antibacterial pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic papers published in any journal over a 12-month period. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored several book chapters, and is internationally known for his work on polymyxin pharmacology. He continues to work in academia researching the treatment of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative ‘superbugs’.
