Rusty realizes only too well why the creation issue is such an important one. Saved at the age of eleven, he often struggled in his teenage years when confronted with evolutionary arguments that were presented as real science. However, in a Bible-believing college, most of his questions were answered by pro-active lecturers well versed in creation apologetics.
In 1988 he received a B.S. in Ministry from Liberty University. Since his graduation Rusty has worked as a missionary/pastor with the indigenous people of Atlantic Canada. While serving in Native camp ministry he was also a founding board member of the local Christian radio station in Charlottetown, PE, Canada. During his time in Canada, he hosted numerous CMI creation outreach events and led his church in a three month ‘Creation Summer’ which included a trip to the famous Joggins, NS, location to search for fossils, including polystrate fossils.
With 20 years experience in teaching and evangelism, Rusty understands the importance of laying a foundation from the book of Genesis before presenting the Gospel message. He sees his role at CMI to help “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Cor 10:5). He says “This helps clear away the stumbling blocks that most people have today, so that we can call all to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Rusty and his wife, Vanessa, have been happily married for 28 years. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren. Rusty continues to teach his family the importance of God’s creation as it relates to faith and evangelism. They are all passionate about sharing this vital information with others.
