National Creation Conference

Successful Seattle Conference

Those of us involved with the 1987 National Creation Conference, held at Seattle Pacific University’s beautiful campus (August 2–5), can verify that random change (particularly at the last minute) does not lead to order. But our every prayer was answered, and every change worked for the best. Extensive media coverage generated a public response much larger than anticipated.

The event which sparked most attention was Monday night’s lively Creation/Evolution Forum. A crowd of 525 stayed for three hours to hear presentations about the origins of life by well-known creationists Dr Duane Gish and Dr Wayne Frair, and evolutionists Dr David Milne and Dr William Thwaites.
Dr Donald Chittick’s fascinating slide show, ‘Presenting Creation: An Approach That Works’, emphasized the philosophical and scientific importance of teaching creation science in our schools.
Rev. Paul Bartz closed the week with the challenge that we must find our way out of the church pews with the truths of our Creator if we are to change a dying world.
