Eine andere Demonstration desselben Phänomens sind Zeitraffer-Aufnahmen, in denen man sieht, wie die Sterne der nördlichen Hemisphäre entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn um den Polarstern (oder, genauer, den Himmelsnordpol) kreisen. Wenn wir schon bei Rotationsbewegungen sind: bei tropischen Zyklonen bzw. Hurrikans drehen sich die starken Winde auf der nördlichen Hemisphäre gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, auf der südlichen Hemisphäre hingegen im Uhrzeigersinn. Der Grund dafür ist der Coriolis-Effekt auf der Erdkugel. Sie würden sich überall auf der Erde in der gleichen Richtung drehen, wenn die Erde eine rotierende, flache Scheibe wäre.
