A biblical and scientific refutation of ‘progressive creationism’
(billions of years) as popularized by astronomer Hugh Ross
See introductory chapter and reviews
Possibly the most powerful biblical & scientific defense of a straightforward view of Genesis creation ever written!
Refutes all major compromise positions!
With brilliant clarity, Jonathan Sarfati, author of the acclaimed Refuting Evolution (1 & 2) has produced a comprehensive and biblically-based refutation of progressive creationism. He addresses such issues as:
Why write Refuting Compromise?
Christianity is under massive attack at its Genesis foundations. Without the historical origin of sin and death, the mission of Christ—the ‘last Adam’—becomes lost in a sea of woolly meaninglessness.
Many otherwise sound evangelical leaders, thinking that the only real enemy is ‘Darwinism,’ are being seduced by the promise of ‘progressive creationism.’ Its most prominent voice, astronomer Dr Hugh Ross, has convinced many that here is a biblically sound way to accommodate the ‘facts of science.’
But in what is possibly the most powerful biblical and scientific defense of a straightforward view of Genesis creation to date, Dr Jonathan Sarfati relentlessly exposes and refutes the views of Ross in this monumental 411–page detailed work that ‘leaves no stone unturned’ as he honors the Scripture and dismantles the progressive creationist (and other) compromise positions.
Any reader—thoughtful layperson, theologian or scientist—genuinely willing to honor God’s Word will come to the conclusion (even if unwelcome) that evangelicalism has, in this arena, abandoned its heritage of sound exegesis.
This is a much-needed wake-up call for the church—how can true revival come while we disregard the Bible’s authority in the crucial area of history?

More about this book
From the book:
‘If we marry our theology to today’s science, we’ll be widowed tomorrow … . Those who wish to deny a particular interpretation of Genesis need to find a basis in the biblical text from the application of these rules; an appeal to general human fallibility is simply not sufficient … compromise with materialism is impossible, for materialists will never be satisfied until all of Christianity is vanquished … .’
Dr Douglas Kelly, Professor of Systematic Theology, writes:
‘This book is of pivotal importance for overcoming the present confusion on Genesis and science among many Christians who wish to expound faithfully and intelligibly the scriptural texts … with crystal clarity, Dr Sarfati works through the often convoluted arguments of those opposed to a plain reading of Genesis in both the scriptural and scientific arenas … some of the most convincing answers I have yet seen.’
